A "vowel dump" is a word with a lot of vowels that you play in order to keep your rack balanced or simply because you have a lot of vowels. We will define a vowel dump this way: a 3-letter vowel dump must have 3 vowels; a 4-letter vowel dump must have at least 3 vowels; a 5-letter or 6-letter vowel dump must have at least 4 vowels; a 7-letter or 8-letter vowel dump must have at least 5 vowels; and so on. For a word with more than 8 letters to be a vowel dump, it must have at least roundup(n/2)+1 vowels where n is the length of the word. Here "roundup" means round up fractions to the next highest integer.
Under SOWPODS there are only four 3-letter vowel dumps : AIA, EAU, AUE, AUA.
There are, however, many 4-letter vowel dumps. The list below shows the 50 most played 3-or-4-letter vowel dumps under SOWPODS listed in playrank order, meaning that AIA is the most played word of this bunch, EUOI is the second most played, and so on down the list.
Note that if this list had included ALL vowel dumps, regardless of length, then only six words longer than four letters would be on it. Those words are AINEE, AQUAE, ZOEAE, AERIE, OUIJA, and OORIE.
